The
Clans screen lists all the clans, their members, ratings,
and winnings, and a message from each clan's captain. A clan's ratings
are calculated based on its members' performances in clans-only tournaments.
The clan's total prizes include all prizes the clan has won in Magic
Online, both in individual and clans-only play.
To open the Clans screen, click the Clans icon in the Main Room. |
If you're in a clan, your clan's name will appear on the bar at the bottom of your screen whenever you're logged on. Click the clan's name on the bar to open your clan chat window. You'll be able to chat with other members of your clan and see who's logged on to Magic Online. You can also leave messages for clan members who aren't logged on.
Starting a Clan
You can start a new clan by clicking the New button on the Clans
screen and choosing a clan name. The name can include only numbers and
letters. All clan names must be approved by a Magic Online
administrator. (That process could take a day or two.)
Captains
The captain of a clan is the person who started that clan. If the captain
leaves the clan, the person who's been in the clan the longest becomes
the new captain. Captains' names appear in red on the Clans screen.
Only a clan's captain can invite people to join the clan. The captain can also edit the clan's message by clicking the Message button on the Clans screen.
When a clan captain right-clicks a user name in a chat window, the menu that appears has more options. Invite to clan sends the player an invitation to join the captain's clan. Kick from clan removes the player from the clan. Promote to captain makes the chosen clan member the clan's new captain.
Joining a Clan
To join an existing clan, you need to be invited to join by that clan's
captain.
Leaving a Clan
You can leave a clan at any time. Just right-click on your user name
in your clan's chat window and select Drop from clan.
Clans-Only Events
Some tournaments are labeled as "clans only" events. Only players who
are in a clan with three or more people in it can sign up for a clans-only
tournament, and players' match results count towards their clans' ratings.
(Whenever possible, you won't be paired against other players from your
clan.)
