I've never Played Quake III Arena
This section is for anyone who is not familiar with Quake III Arena and is playing this demo for the first time. This section should help first time players have an enjoyable experience.
Setup your Controls. Once you have started the game, click on the Setup button which is accessed by moving your mouse over the Options bar in the main menu. Click on "Controls" to setup what keys you will use to move, shoot, and communicate within the game. Use the buttons at the bottom of the Controls menu to access all of the options available through the controls menu.
Setup your Player. Use the "Player" menu to change your character, name, and Railgun effect color. These options can be accessed by clicking on the "Player" option after highlighting the Option bar on the main menu.
Setup your System. It is important for every player to configure their system settings so that the game runs smoothly on their particular system. To modify your system settings, click on "Setup" button under the Options bar. Use the System menu and Game Options menu to set your preferences and optimize the game speed for your particular system.
Note: If your system meets or slightly exceeds the minimum system requirements, we highly recommend that you set the "Quality" option to FASTEST in the System Menu.
Read the Rules. Both players familiar with Quake III Arena as well as new players should read the information contained in the "Rules" Section of the main menu. This can be accessed by clicking on the "Rules" text that appears when you move your mouse cursor over "Team Arena" at the top of the main menu. This contains all of the information on Gametypes, Powerups, and Orders.
Start Playing. To start playing Team Arena simply move your mouse cursor over the "Play" option in the main menu and select either SinglePlayer or MultiPlay.
SinglePlayer - In single player mode you will be competing against computer-controlled bots. You'll need to select the type of game you want to play and the skill level of the bots you'll be facing. After you select the clan you'll be facing, you can click on the right-facing arrow at the bottom of the screen to start the carnage.
MultiPlayer - In MultiPlayer mode you will be competing over players on the Internet or over a LAN (local area network). Once you have selected the MultiPlay option, click the "Get New List" and "Refresh List" buttons to access the list of servers. To join a server simply click on it and click the right-facing arrow in the bottom right portion of the screen. If you do not see a list of servers appear, please make sure that you are connected to the Internet via a dial-up connection or local area network. See System Requirements for additional information.

Those familiar with Quake III Arena will notice many changes and additions in Quake III: Team Arena. We have added a number of new keyboard commands that players will want to use to communicate with team mates. These can be bound through the Controls section of either the Main Menu or the in-game menu. The new communication keys are:
Please send all bug reports to bugs@idsoftware.com.
In your subject line, please describe the system the game is being played on
(i.e. Mac, Linux, Win32) and the type of problem you are reporting (i.e. video, network, sound or
game). Example Subject Line: "Mac/video problem" or "Linux/network connection problem."
In the body of your letter (no attached files please), briefly list and describe the problems. Detailed descriptions of problems are good, but
remember that brevity is best. Please do NOT send screen shots unless they are the ONLY way to show a problem.
While we realize that you may have comments and suggestions regarding specific game play features, please refrain from submitting
these along with bug reports. Comments on game play can be made on the official Quake 3:
Team Arena message board at: www.quake3world.com.
Do NOT send reports to individual id employees.
Allocating
Memory Using com_hunkmegs
The command com_hunkmegs is used to increase or decrease the size of memory
used by the game. By default it is set to 56 which allows the game to run on
computers with 64 megs of ram. If your system has more than 64 MB of RAM,
you can adjust this value to allow for the loading of more unique models.
For example: If you have a machine with 256 megs of RAM you can use the command com_hunkmegs 128 to allocate more memory to the program. You would do this by accessing the game console (press the ~ key), and typing in:
\com_hunkmegs 128
(substitute the amount of memory that you would like to dedicate for the "128" in the example above).
NOTE: You can only allocate up to 3/4 of your total system memory before you may experience problems with your computer system.
Multiple Monitors
We have noticed that if you are running a machine with multiple monitors,
and each video card is an OpenGL compliant video card (i.e. Voodoo3 and GeForce),
you may experience problems running the game, as the game will recognize both
video cards.
Simply disable one of the monitors in the Windows® Display Properties.
In order to maximize the performance of Quake III: Team Arena, you must have at least 100 MB of free hard disk space for the Windows® virtual memory swap file.
Mouse Wheel with Logitech Mice
People having problems with the "mousewheel" on Logitech mice should grab the latest version of Logitech's drivers from the following location. In addition to the latest version of "Mouseware" drivers, you will need to download the "Mouse Registry File for Gamers" which will allow the "mousewheel" to work within Quake 3.
Note: Although "Mouse Registry File for Gamers" is not listed as being needed under Windows Millennium Edition you will still need to download it in order to get the correct functionality from the wheel.

The ability to run a map in developer mode (or devmap) has been disabled in the Team Arena demo. Cheats will not be enabled.
