Choose Edit > Preferences and select Site FTP, and then choose from the following Site FTP preferences to control file transfer features available in the Site window:
Always Show Specifies that either the local or remote files will always appear in the left pane or the right pane of the Site window. By default, the local directory appears on the right.
Dependent Files Displays a prompt for transferring dependent files (images and other files—such as external style sheets—that are loaded by the browser when the HTML file is loaded). Prompt on Get/Check Out and Prompt on Put/Check In are both selected by default; select Don't Show Me Again when the Get/Check Out prompt appears to deselect the first option, and select it when the Put/Check In prompt appears to deselect the second option.
Note: To force the Include Dependent Files prompt to appear when these options are deselected, press Alt (Windows) or Option (Macintosh) while choosing Get, Put, Check In, or Check Out.
FTP Connection Determines whether the connection to the remote site is terminated after the specified amount of minutes has passed with no activity.
FTP Time Out Specifies the number of seconds for which Dreamweaver will attempt to make a connection with the remote server. If there is no response after the specified amount of time, Dreamweaver displays a warning dialog box alerting you to this fact.
Firewall Host Specifies the address of the proxy server to which you connect if you are behind a firewall. If you are not behind a firewall, leave this space blank.
Firewall Port Specifies the port through which you connect to the FTP server. If you connect through a port other than 21 (the default for FTP), enter the number here.
Define Sites Takes you to the Define Sites dialog box, where you can edit an existing site or create a new one. See Defining a site.
