Resizing the Document window

The current dimensions (in pixels) of the Document window, along with several common monitor sizes, appear in the Window Size pop-up menu in the window's status bar. To help you design a page that looks good at a specific resolution (or several different resolutions), you can snap the Document window to any of the sizes listed on the pop-up menu.

To change the values listed in the Window Size pop-up menu:

1 Choose Edit > Preferences and select Status Bar.
2 Click any of the Width or Height values in the Window Sizes list and type a new value.
To make the Document window snap only to a specific width (leaving the height unchanged), select a Height value and delete it.
3 Click the Description field to enter descriptive text about a specific size.
For example, you might type "SVGA" or "average PC" next to the entry for a 800 x 600 pixel monitor, and "17-in. Mac" next to the entry for a 832 x 624 pixel monitor.

To add a value to the Window Size pop-up menu:

1 Choose Edit > Preferences > Status Bar.
2 Click the last value in the list and press Tab three times to create a new row.
3 Enter values for Width, Height, and Description.
