The Java 2 Software Development Kit (SDK) provides the essential tools, runtimes and APIs needed by Java programmers. These are used for writing, deploying and running applets and applications in the Java programming language. This product provides cross-platform compatibility, safe network delivery and smartcard to super-computer scalability. While the SDK includes the base tools needed to develop Java applets and applications, Sun strongly encourages the use of a professional Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as Forte for Java or Borland JBuilder.
