Creating databases in Visual Basic

You can create databases in formats other than the Microsoft Excel Workbook format that has been used in this example. To do this you'll need to have installed the Data Access Objects for Visual Basic. If these aren't installed you can install them from your original Office 97 CD.

Start the Setup program and select Data Access from the Options list and select Change Option. If the Data Access Objects for Visual Basic check box is not selected then select it and click OK and continue to install it. If the check box is selected then the Data Access Objects should be installed on your system so exit install.

In Step 2 of the Template Wizard you can choose from a range of database formats to store the information from your template. Of course, you'll need a database program capable of reading this database file to make use of it.
