This patch has two North American versions. WPS7_02F.EXE and WPS7_02P.EXE. There
are also two UK (WP7UK_2F.EXE and WP7UK_2P.EXE) and two Australian versions (WP7OZ_2F.EXE
and WP7OZ_2P.EXE) that resolve the same issues. The UK and OZ patches are smaller
because they only patch two versions (7.0.2.19 & 7.0.2.40) while the North American
will patch four versions. Also the localized Presentations and WP Draw files are
not included in the UK and OZ patches (unnecessary). They are available at the following
FTP site: ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/wordperfect/wpwin/70.
The F version contains the full updated files and the P version contains binary
updates to the files. Both versions of the patch contain the same fixes. The two
versions differ in the following ways:
-The F version supports network or NT 3.51 workstation updates (the P version
supports neither).
-The F version is .ZIP file compatible.
The F version of the patch cannot automatically find the Corel Wordperfect Suite
7 on NT 3.51 workstations, so those using this workstation will need to manually
find the appropriate directories. To find the appropriate directories, look for
WPWIN7.EXE and use that path for the WordPerfect 7 files. Look for the PRWIN.EXE
and use that path for the Presentations 7 files. Look for SHWIN70.DLL and use that
path for the PerfectFit files. Look for QPW.EXE and use that patch for the Quattro
Pro files. Also, NT 3.51 users will need to manually close the PerfectPrint and
DAD processes before installing the patch or some files will not be updated correctly.
It is recommended that all Corel Business applications (including PFPPOP70.EXE
and the Desktop Application Director) are closed before installing the patch.
The patch will update Corel WordPerfect 7 version 7.0.2.19, 7.0.2.24, 7.0.2.26,
or 7.0.2.40 (the UK and Australian P versions will only update 7.0.2.19 or 7.0.2.40)
to the newest versions of WordPefect 7, Quattro Pro 7 and Presentations 7.
This patch is not supported on machines with Corel WordPerfect Suite 8. Unpredictable
conflicts may occur if this patch is used on machines with Corel WordPerfect Suite
8.
Changes Included in this Patch
===========================================
WordPerfect
ODMA Changes
-------------------------------------------
This patch improves the way WordPerfect, Quattro Pro and Presentations interact
with ODMA. The changes have resolved a number ODMA related problems. Some of the
more visible WordPerfect problems that have been fixed are listed below. Also, some
new diagnostic tools for ODMA have been added. See "Diagnostic ODMA Tools"
section
for more details.
1. "Obscure ODMA" errors will no longer display on screen. These errors will
be recorded in the File Activity Log, which is not enabled by default. For information
on enabling the File Activity Log, see the section titled "Diagnostic ODMA
Tools."
2. After opening a document from a DMS (Document Management System), the focus
will now be returned to WPWin after completing a Save or Save As.
3. The macro commands ?Name and ?ODMAName will return the text from the last backslash
forward in the path\filename string.
Ex. 1: path\filename is
::ODMA\PCDOCS\LIBRARY\AUTHOR\2345\1 ?Name and ?ODMAName will return the string
1.
Ex. 2: path\filename is C:\MyFiles\2345.WPD ?Name will return the string 2345.WPD.
?ODMAName will return nothing since this is not an ODMA document name.
4. When importing a 5.2 version of a form and data file into PC Docs 3.5.3, users
will no longer receive a message that the file was in use.
5. Searching for codes, then closing the find and replace dialog while running
PCDOCS 3.7 software, no longer causes an IPF in SHWIN70.DLL.
6. File | Save As problems could occur when WP was integrated with DMS. This is
now resolved.
7. PR ODMA integration has been improved.
WordPerfect Printing, Fax and Font
Changes
-------------------------------------------
8. Selecting Default Paper Source now correctly prints to the paper location set
in the printer or fax driver.
9. On some systems, Print History and Polling caused problems. The Print History
can now be disabled.
10. EPS Graphics now print correctly on NT 4.0 workstations.
11. Epson Stylus
printer errors no longer appear when documents are printed or when the program is
launched.
12. When selecting some Epson Stylus printers, changing the page orientation to
landscape no longer causes the entire screen to black out temporarily during the
redraw.
13. When printing left-justified documents to some Epson Stylus printers, text
no longer flows into the right margin.
14. The Print Status dialog now shows the total number of physical pages printed
per print job, in addition to the completion status.
15. Printer drivers that have assigned ID numbers higher than 256 to the printer
bins, no longer cause WP to not access the bins correctly.
16. Merging with the printer specified as the output, now works when the operating
system does not have e-mail enabled.
17. When printing labels to some d ox matrix printers, no longer is there a full
page form feed between each label when using printers that support custom paper
sizes.
18. Some fax drivers would default to Landscape. This has been corrected.
Other
WordPerfect Changes

19. Problems experienced when browsing or saving to areas of Netware 4.1x servers
using multiple long name directories have been resolved.
20. The Enhanced Open/Save dialogs (on by default) can be turned off and the common
open/save dialogs can be used instead.
21. NT workstations: While running a third-party integrated application in the
background (like Norton Navigator 95), application errors could occur in WPWIN7.EXE
when a WPWin dialog that contained counter controls was opened.
22. After performing a DDE execution of WPWin from GroupWise 5 (by double-clicking
a profiled WPWin document), WPWin will open the file or (if already running) become
the active application and load the file.
23. When working in WPWin, the error "WPWIN7 caused a stack fault in module
SHWIN70.DLL
at 0137:362c6faa" could appear. This problem could occur after saving a document
with an outline style containing both Document (open) and Paragraph (paired) styles.
This error may also occur at variations of the address 0137:xxxxxxxx.
24. Timed Backup will occur on every file save, and after the save process completes
successfully, the backup file will be deleted. NOTE: Timed Backup must be enabled
in order for any backup to occur.
25. Generating a cross-reference to an outline number in an outline style that
contains legal numbering combined with other characters now works correctly.
26. NT workstations: Editing a style while the Ruler is displayed no longer causes
an IPF in module WPWIN7.EXE at 0137:004344ab.
27. When retrieving WP 5.x formatted documents containing tables, then saving
back to the original format, tables are no longer shaded incorrectly.
28. The Continue message area of the .LRS file (Tools | Language | Edit LRS...
| Miscellaneous) was limited to 24 characters. This limitation has been increased
to 70 characters.
29. When WP7 documents are converted to other formats (IE WP 5.x), font conversion
has been improved.
30. When saving a 5.1 document in WP7 (in a 6x format), the document can now be
retrieved in WP51+.
31. Graphics lines and images no longer sometimes change location after publishing
documents with them to HTML.
32. The option to have footnotes restart on each page now functions correctly
on pages following a [Srt-Spg] code.
33. When generating, if the reference is after the last target tied to it, a hypertext
link is no longer created.
34. After installing OmniPage Pro 8.0, WordPerfect and Presentations were unstable.
This has been fixed.
Quattro Pro Changes

35. When certain
printer drivers are installed, Quattro Pro no longer returns a zero instead of ERR
for divide-by-zero formulas.
36. When importing UK Excel7 files into QPW, cells formatted as UK currency ú
no longer convert into QPW without the ú sign.
37. When concatenating any string in front of an @if formula, everything from
the @if formula onwards would not display in the cell, regardless of whether @if
returned a true or false. This has been corrected.
38. Some formulas combined with certain value references would generate a gpf.
This has been corrected.
39. In NT 4.0, setting tab colors on the workbook pages, then clicking the tabs
after retrieving a file no longer cause the tabs to display incorrectly.
40. Print trays can now be selected.
41. QPW7 no longer gives an error when
exiting the program with PCDOCS 3.7 enabled.
42. In NT 4.0, the font for map pins was converted incorrectly with some documents.
43.
Moving back and forth between the steps for the What-If Expert no longer causes
the error: The instruction at "0x0075a0ed" referenced memory at
"0x32443a41".
44. When editing pie chart properties various problems could occur. This has been
corrected.
45. QPW7 now displays the Document Number or Version Number on the Title Bar.
Presentations
Changes

46. Selecting Default Paper Source now correctly prints to the paper location set

47. PR will now read PR 8 chart styles containing text that has been moved or
repositioned.

These files should be copied over the files of the same name in the WordPerfect,
Presentations , and PerfectFit directories. By default, the WordPerfect files exist
in \COREL\OFFICE7\WPWIN7\SYSTEM; the Presentations files exist in
\COREL\OFFICE7\PRWIN7\SYSTEM,
except for PRWIN.EXE which exists in \COREL\OFFICE7\PRWIN7; and the PerfectFit files
exist in \COREL\OFFICE7\SHARED\PFIT7\.
After the patch has been installed, the Program release version of WP7 as reported
in Help|About Corel WordPerfect will be 7.0.2.41. The Program release version of
PR7 will be 7.0.71.90. The PerfectFit release versions will be 7.0.2.10191. The
program release version of Quattro Pro will be 7.0.2.21.
Diagnostic ODMA Tools
===========================================
In an effort
to help identify the cause of missing edits of files stored by a DMS, Corel has
included diagnostic utilities for the ODMA code in WPWin. These utilities will help
Corel verify that WPWin code complies with ODMA standards. In the case where WPWin
code does not comply with ODMA standards, the diagnostic tools will help Corel Technical
Support identify and report ODMA integration issues to Corel Development.
File Activity Log
-------------------------------------------
The File Activity
Log feature provides a log file that records the date and time when the following
actions occurred:
- WordPerfect was started and exited
- Files were opened, closed, or saved (Save
or Save As)
- ODMA code for files were opened, closed, or saved (Save or Save As)
- Changes were discarded
- New files were opened
Along with the log file, the File Activity Log verifies that files are saved correctly
by DOS. The File Activity Log detects problems that may occur when there is trouble
saving a file. WPWin then provides a warning of the problem so users can find another
method of saving the file before they exit WPWin.

The File Activity Log is inoperative
by default. To enable the File Activity Log, import the FALOG.REG file to the registry
(this file is found in your pfit7 directory -- usually c:\corel\office7\shared\pfit7)
by double-clicking the file. Doing this will create a ODMALOG.TXT file in the c:\temp
directory by default. You can edit FALOG.REG in a DOS text editor to change the
path and name of the ODMALOG.TXT file if desired.
IMPORTANT: This path\filename must be valid because it will determine the path
and filename of the log file that is created. Information is appended to the log
file WPWin is used. To reserve disk space, backups and removal of the log file should
be done regularly.
Below is an explanation of the possible contents of the log file.
ODMACloseDoc
-------------------------------------------
If
WPWin does not send the ODMACloseDoc command after closing a file, the following
dialog will appear:
"The following file was not properly closed (DOS filename).
The ODMA DocID is (ODMA filename)
The ODMA error was (ODMA error number)
This is an error in WordPerfect which should
be referred to Corel customer support."
After the dialog appears, click OK to clear the message and continue. Record the
ODMA error number from the message and verify that any document changes were saved
to the network. If not, copy the file from the Echo or Shadow directory to the network,
then contact Corel Technical Support. Be prepared with the ODMA error number and
results of the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Can the problem be duplicated?
2. Is the problem specific to the document or type of document?
2a. Is the user with the error the author of the document?
2b. Is the file protected with a password, DOS attribute, network rights and/or
profile privileges?
2c. Is the file stored on a remote network server?
3. Was the document closed before exiting WP7?
If the ODMA error is 0, this means that WPWin did not send the ODMACloseDoc command.
Corel development is committed to fixing every instance in the WordPerfect code
where an ODMACloseDoc is not sent.
If the ODMA error is any other number, use the list of ODMA error numbers below
to determine the cause of the problem.
