Screamer Frequently Asked Questions
Aborts and Errors
Problem: Getting error message "Not enough memory".
Solution: Create a bootdisk to free up as much memory as possible.
Virgin Interactive offers a comprehensive document at http://www.vie.com/tech/faq/10000.html with step by step instructions on how to create a Boot Disk.
Audio
Problem: No sound in game.
Solution: Some sound cards do not like to be shared between a DOS and Windows environment. Try running Screamer from DOS to see if this produces sound.
Controls
Problem: The game doesn't recognize the joystick.
Solution: On the setup screen. Select Controls. Hit ENTER on top of the directional control you wish to configure. Move the attached joystick. The program will recognize movement. Following this screen, you will be presented with a calibration screen.
Problem: T2 usage and/or calibration problems.
Solution: Use a dedicated game card. Make sure any additional game ports are disabled. Using a game port from a multifunction card or one that comes on the back of a sound card will result in jerky performance of the T2.
Problem: Game does not recognize foot pedals.
Solution: You must have a dual port game card to run the game. The T2 uses Joystick A X-axis for turning and Joystick B X-axis for brake/gas pedals. Thrustmaster will provide a converter (for free, per the documentation) that changes the T2's Joystick B X-axis into a Joystick A Y-axis signal. Thrustmaster technical support can be reached at (503) 968-3411.
Network
Problem: Network game is not working correctly.
Solution: Be sure that you are not running Screamer off of a network or a shared CD-ROM drive. You must have a separate copy of Screamer for each system. Run both the network and normal install.
Miscellaneous
Problem: Where are all the other tracks?
Solution: You must win the Championship to gain access to the other tracks.
