Changing defaults in Corel WordPerfect 7

To set the units of measure in WordPerfect select Edit, Preferences select the Display icon and alter the Units of measure and Status/Ruler Bar display to the units required.

You can set the margins, default Paper size, language and other options for all new documents in WordPerfect by changing the Document's Initial Codes style for the current document and electing to use these as the program defaults. While this may appear to be a convoluted way of setting defaults, it does mean you can set a number of options from the one dialogue box.

To alter the default settings, select Format, Document, Initial Codes Style. Set the options you want, for example, Format, Page, Page Size for the paper size; Format, Margins to set margins; Format, Line, Tab Set to set tabs; Format, Font to set the font; Tools, Language to specify the language for the spell checker to use. When you're finished, select the Use as default check box and click OK. These settings will then be used for every new WordPerfect document created using the current template.
