OPTIview

A powerful, fast-turnaround facility to create and view CD-ROMs containing AFP, PDF, Xerox Metacode* and 3211 line data

"When a connection to your mainframe is too costly or not feasible for your users, or you need to access archived information quickly, OPTIview is THE solution for cost effective information distribution using CD-ROM."

OPPORTUNITY

Imagine a product that would let you easily transport your cumbersome paper or fiche products to CD with no redesign. Why CD? It's a permanent 660 Mb media that is inexpensive to buy (less than 3ยข per Mb), ship (less than 4 oz.), search (multiple key fields), and store (4.75" X 5.5" X .3"). It's also easy to use, with context sensitive help, and on-screen hints. But the biggest benefit is the drastically reduced retrieval times for data. Instead of digging through stacks of paper or fiche, the user will be able to retrieve documents in a few seconds, and then view, print, or fax the document, or cut and paste the information to other applications. Imagine accessing the information with up to 16 search keys - instead of having reports sorted by only one key.

OPTIview is the product you just imagined. Our OPTIview software takes your IBM S/370-S/390 mainframe formatted reports, statements, invoices, manuals and other reference documents, optimizes the retrieval for CD-ROM, and displays them on our integrated PC-based viewer. The viewing software is no charge, significantly reducing total product costs and distribution accounting headaches.

OVERVIEW

OPTIview is powerful, easy to use software with both mainframe and PC components.

On the mainframe, OPTIview first indexes your existing AFP, PDF, Xerox Metacode* and 3211 line formatted data using our proprietary indexing system that is specifically designed for CD-ROM access. Second, OPTIview builds the required ISO 9660 directory structure for all the files included on the CD-ROM.

On the PC, OPTIview is a Windows 3.1 based search/retrieval and viewing application using a LAN or locally attached CD-ROM drive. The documents appear on the PC screen in the same format as they would on the paper or microfiche reader.

With OPTIview there is no need to alter or develop new processes or data files. OPTIview uses existing print or microfiche output files for the CD-ROM and makes use of any existing index fields imbedded in AFP or Xerox Metacode* data. An easy to use indexer is included with the 3211 line data format to allow several ways of specifying keys, and PDF files will automatically generate a full-text index.
