Welcome to the Absynth Demo!

Important note: Absynth Demo Standalone will not make any sound until you select a driver for your soundcard. Upon first launch, choose either ASIO or Soundcard in the Setup->Audio Port menu.

For a first impression of Absynth please take the following steps:

  • Click on the Absynth Demo icon on your desktop to start the standalone version.
  • You need to first configure your audio before you can hear anything: Select either ASIO or Soundcard audio in the Setup->Audio Port menu, depending on what soundcard you have.
  • You will see the first 16 presets, which you can recall by clicking on the preset name or by using the up, down, left, or right arrow keys. Another eight sets of 16 preset each are directly accessible by clicking on the page (0... 16... 32...) buttons above the presets.
  • You can play the selected sound by clicking on the on-screen keyboard or with an external MIDI keyboard or sequencer. You can change the active MIDI device and setup at the top-left of the keyboard and preset window.
  • If you don't hear any sound, please have a look in the Setup menu and check the sound card's configuration under Audio System and Audio Setup.
  • To edit sounds quickly, just click the "Patch" button in the main keyboard window, and try activating and deactivating the "quicksilver" modules. Have fun!
  • The initially loaded bank of 128 presets are the Absynth Factory Presets. The Absynth Demo can only read this Factory Presets Bank. The retail version of Absynth ships with more than 700 sounds. The Absynth Demo cannot save any sounds, and the program will quit after 20 minutes.

Important Notes regarding Abynth Demo 1.3.2:

AbsynthVST has been developed and tested with Logic Audio 5.0, Cubase 5.1, and Nuendo 1.52. Because of the large variety of hosts on the PC platform and the complexity of AbsynthVST, please email support if you experience problems with another host program. Currently the only major host that will not be supported by AbsynthVST is Cubase 3.7.

If you manually want to move AbsynthVST to additional VST host programs, you must copy both the Absynth.dll and the Absynth folder to the VstPlugIns folder of the desired host.

To start with no audio engine (for troubleshooting), launch Absynth while holding down the SHIFT key.

If the sound cuts out in the VST host when switching between your host and Absynth Engine, then you must enable the "active in background" option in your host. In Cubase, make sure that "Active in Background" is checked in the Options menu. For other hosts, please check your documentation.
