Rover - Win Cim Mail Retriever
- Due to a small technical difficulty experienced by a handful
of users, we felt it prudent to provide a new build
- encompassing the two requirements.
- Rover does not work with the new versions of Win Cim.
- When downloading mail which takes longer than the specified
time out period. (ie Rover time out is set to 2 minutes and Rover
is downloading a file that take 5 minutes), Rover does NOT shutdown
after the file has been collected.
Definition the Keystrokes
Rover retrieves e-mail from CompuServe by simulating keystrokes
- usually Alt, M, R, Enter.
To set-up the keystrokes to ensure Rover dials up CompuServe to
retrieve your mail, you will have to define them by selecting
Keystrokes from the Setup menu.
In the Win Cim Title box, enter the name that is shown on the
title when CompuServe is started. This will usually be CompuServe
Information Manager or CompuServe 2.5 UK. Enter the title exactly
as it appears on the title bar, as this title identifies the appropriate
application to Rover to control.
Click on Get Mail, Keystrokes and then select from the list boxes
the characters to be entered. For example to configure Alt, M,
R, Enter, you would select Alt from the 1st list box, M from the
2nd, R from the 3rd, and Enter from the 4th. You would leave the
5th and 6th showing nothing, as shown above. You have now configured
the keystrokes that Rover will use to retrieve mail from CompuServe.
When Rover has retrieved mail from CompuServe the icon will be
displayed.
You can view
your collected mail by double clicking on the icon. But first
you will have to configure the keystrokes. Click on View Mail,
Keystrokes and then select from the list boxes the characters
to be entered. For example to configure Alt, M, I, Enter, you
would select Alt from the 1st list box, M from the 2nd, I from
the 3rd, and Enter from the 4th. You would leave the 5th and 6th
showing nothing, as shown above.
Due to the nature of defining the keystrokes required to retrieve
mail from CompuServe, Rover is no longer limited to the English
version of CompuServe WinCim. By entering the appropriate keystrokes,
Rover will even work with the German version, Spanish
version, and the French version.
Rover termination when collecting mail.
When Rover collects mail, control is given to CompuServe to collect
mail. If the Delay Period is reached, Rover informs CompuServe
to stop receiving downloads and terminate. This sometimes does
not work.
Rover now has an in built facility that will wait until CompuServe
has performed the Retrieve Mail request and then terminate CompuServe.
This can happen 2 minutes later, 10 minutes later or an hour later,
Rover will continuously request CompuServe to terminate after
all mail has been retrieved.
