OS2WWW Version History
Version 1.8
- ImageMap definition files that refer to a remote URL no longer
cause Server error 500.
Version 1.7
- Server side includes should now work correctly.
- Some access control files in document sub-directories were causing
problems, making the server return error 500 to the browser. These
problems should now be fixed.
- The speed is about 20% slower than version 1.6, but will be
dramatically improved when version 2.0 is released.
Version 1.4
- OS2WWW now runs at server priority level. To reduce its multitasking
priority to a "regular" setting, use the "-p" command line switch.
- Some users had problems running the new "imagemap.exe". This has
now been corrected.
- The keystrokes used to obtain automatic server statistics and traces
are now documented when OS2WWW starts up.
- The "Alias" command in the "srm.cnf" configuration file now correctly
handles aliases to other drives, including network drives.
Version 1.2
- An enhanced "imagemap.exe" is now shipped with OS2WWW. If you have
an existing "imagemap.exe" from OS2HTTPD, please replace it.
- The install program now allows re-installation, while keeping a
multi-level backup of previous configurations.
- Performance is slightly improved over the 1.1 release.
- Documentation is now contained in a "OS2WWW" directory off of the
main "DOCS" directory.
Version 1.1
- Command line options -d and -f now work.
- New command line option -m for specifying document root directory,
without having to modify a configuration file.
- CGI support now included for batch and REXX files, not just EXE.
- The URL need no longer specify a document directly. OS2WWW loads
"index.html" if present, else uses the "DirectoryIndex" spec in the
"srm.cnf" file. The "Welcome" spec is also allowed.
- The "Redirect" spec in the "srm.cnf" file is now properly supported,
as is "Alias".
- Directories and URL's can now end with a trailing '/'.
- Both UNIX '/' and OS/2 '\' characters are allowed for directories
and URL's, but UNIX-style '/' is preferred for cross-platform
compatibility.
- Dynamic directory listings are now served by OS2WWW if no document
is specified.
- URLs may now be specified using more than 8 character file names and
3 character extensions, even if a FAT partition is being used. OS2WWW
will automatically map names like "LongFileName.html" to
"LongFile.htm".
- OS2WWW now includes an easy PM installation program.
