The CD contains a SoftCD file called the amendment link file:

This link file is all a user needs to instruct the SoftCD Client software how to update the CD and where to find the amendments it needs to do so. Access to the link file may be made even simpler by building it into a menu system or installing it into the user's Start menu, but in this case the publisher has simply let the SoftCD Publisher application include it in the root of the CD.

To update the CD all the user has to do is double-click on the link file.
