What's New in ObjGen 2.x, from Everett Ward Systems
ObjGen 2.x is the latest release of Everett Ward Systems' code generator for Visual Basic. Users of earlier versions of ObjGen should consider upgrading to the latest release to take advantage of the following new features:
- New in ObjGen 2.x is support for code templates and application frameworks. We have opened up our architecture and implemented a 'generate from template' facility. Code templates are applied to objects individually or at an application level via custom application frameworks that ObjGen can use as the basis for your entire application. Objects can now generate based on your custom code, logic, style and look.
- ObjGen 2.x ships with application frameworks to generate and build Visual Basic 5.0 and 6.0 applications and objects to support data access code for ADO, RDO and DAO.
- New in ObjGen 2.x is an integrated code editor with syntax highlighting to view and modify code template definitions and generated source code. Source code may be customized by the user prior to final generation on a per object basis.
- The ObjGen Code Template Facility and Language (OTF) provides users with an easy to learn syntax that can directly interface into the internal objects within ObjGen to customise, format and define the flow of the generated code. OTF is language independent, giving the user the capability to generate code for other languages such as C++ or Java.
- ObjGen 2.x has been enhanced to automatically create checkbox controls over columns defined as Yes/No and SQL bit data types.
- Users can now define forms in ObjGen 2.x that use ComboBox controls as drop-down lookup fields.
- ObjGen 2.x now includes support for Access 2000 databases.
