Scan2CAD is a raster to vector convertor - a software program that automaticly converts raster files into DXF vector files that can be read into a CAD program This saves time in the conversion of paper based drawings into drawings that you are able to add to, edit and print from your CAD program.

A raster file is a file that is created when you scan a paper based drawing into an electronic format that your computer can read. There are various types of raster file. Scan2CAD can read IMG,PCX,BMP and TIFF raster files.

A vector file is a file where lines and arcs are stored as vectors i.e as precisely defined entities drawn between coodinates and with properties, rather then a lumpy group of pixels

You will probably be able to load raster files into your CAD program. However you will find all you can probably do is look at it or trace over it. You will not be able to amend it at all. This is because CAD programs only work with vector files. If you want to edit a raster file in your CAD program you must first convert it to a vector file. Once you have converted the raster file to a vector, you will be able to import it and edit it just like any other drawing.

This version of Scan2CAD is not time limited. However, when printing from it, it will only print a certain amount of your file, just to give you a taste of what it can do.
