Laplink 2000, which replaces LapLink Pro and LapLink Tech, leverages the power of the Internet to connect two PCs easily and safely. Along with award-winning remote control and file transfer, LapLink 2000 includes a complete range of new security features such as dual-level encryption, sophisticated lockout protection, case-sensitive passwords and folder-level security which provides control found in no other remote-access software.

LapLink 2000's Internet connectivity is simple: connect to a local Internet Service Provider and then connect to another computer running LapLink. No more long-distance telephone charges or the need for multiple phone lines. Users can establish their own easy-to-remember address, for example an e-mail address, to establish a connection and can chat live with others using Voice Chat capabilities. This feature is especially helpful to IT professionals supporting remote workers because they can simultaneously give verbal instruction and remotely control the user's computer through a single phone line.

Not only can you utilize the Internet, you can rely on cables (parallel, serial and USB) modems, dial-up networking and infared comunications to connect to another PC. Laplink also works with diffrent versions of Windows, for instance you can connect a 3.1 machine to a 98 machine.
