Xplorer allows the user's to do the following things:
- Search for XML files based on the XML file name, Document type and some advanced search options like element name and value, attribute name and value, PI, etc.
- Check the validity of XML files.
- View a valid XML file in the XML viewer. Only valid files can be viewed in the XML viewer. If you try to view an invalid XML file, an error dialog appears and errors are logged in the Log Window.
The XML Viewer which is shipped along with the Xplorer provides the following features:
- XML Tree View of the opened XML file.
- XML Source view of the opened XML file.
- DTD Source view of the opened XML file.
- Attribute View of the selected node.
- Selective display of XML elements, attributes, PI, Text and white space characters in the Tree view.
- What can I do with Xplorer?
With Xplorer, you can search for XML files based on Document Type, Element Name and value, PI Name and Data and PCDATA Text, check XML files for their validity and view the selected XML files in the XML viewer. XML viewer provides the Tree View, XML Source View and DTD Source View for the selected XML file. Attribute View shows the attributes of the selected Tree View XML element. XML Viewer also highlights the portions of XML Source and DTD Source of the selected XML Tree View element.
- Which version of the JDK is needed to run Xplorer?
JDK1.1.6 and above.
- Which version of the swing does Xplorer use?
Swing 1.0.2.
- Is it "100% Pure Java"?
Although not officially certified by Sun, Xplorer has been written in 100% Pure Java.
- When I do an advanced search, Xplorer does not list some files even though they contain the search item. Why?
The missing files should be invalid files. When you do a simple search i.e. without entering any values in the Advanced Search panel, Xplorer does not validate the resulting files that match the given search criteria. But when you do advanced search i.e. with values in the Advanced Search Panel, Xplorer validates the resulting files that match the given search criteria. So you will get only valid XML files from Advanced Search.
- The Attribute View does not list anything even though my XML file contains attributes. Why?
The Attribute View lists only the attributes of the selected Tree View element not all the attributes available with the XML file.
