Arrow was written to address a problem we faced with new Linux users. Often new users had previously used Macintosh or Windows95 systems. They took easy-to-use e-mail for granted. When they discovered that the best to offer in Linux was a command-line program, they were not pleased. There were a few X-Windows e-mail programs available, but they didn't satisfy our needs, so I decided to write an e-mail program with all of the features that I've always wanted.

• Free

• Uses standard mail format, so you can still use command-line mail and Pine.

• Uses Pine's address book format, so you can use your old addresses from Pine.

• Access mail on POP servers, including those using APOP

• All main windows have configurable button bars.

• Message table
  • Rearrange messages via drag-and-drop.
  • Drag-and-drop messages to other mail files.
  • Icon changes to show new mail.

  • Inbox support.
    • New mail icon pops up when an inbox receives mail.
    • Add the current mail file to the inbox list with a simple key command.

• Viewing messages
  • Move easily through the entire mail file from the viewer.
  • Search the text of a message.
  • Show/hide full headers.
  • URLs and email addresses are now html links
  • Reply, reply to all, reply to sender, forward, and redirect.

  • Rearrange directories and mailboxes with drag-and-drop.
  • Drag messages from the list window on to a mailbox in the list.
  • Open mailboxes by double-clicking.

• Address book window
  
  • View and edit all entries in multiple address books.
  • Start new messages by double-clicking on an entry.
  • Rearrange entries with drag-and-drop.
  • Drag-and-drop e-mail addresses to create new entries.
