Dial up Connection on Amiga Os | Back to Menu

There are a number of TCP/IP Protocol programs on the Amiga. One we support is MIAMI. Miamilnit will configure MIAMI, your serial port , modem and will then try to connect you to the Internet.

Once you start Miamilnit, you will be asked to choose the type of connection.

You will then be asked to choose which equipment you want to use, e.g "Amiga built in serial port".

Then you will have to select a driver.

You will then be offered a list of modem's to choose from. If you do not see your modem, then you are asked to select a modem from the same manufacturer, or select "other". At this point you will also have to specify a dial prefix.

Next you have to provide Miamilnit with some phone numbers for Contact Box. This depends on your modem type and are as follows:

General Modems - 0845 6621041
V.90 -
0845 6621541
56k Flex -
0845 6621141
ISDN 64k -
0845 6621341
ISDN 128k -
0845 6621441

You will then need to input some information about Contact Box, IP address, Protocol, login name & password. These will be as follows combined with the username and password you decided to use on signup.

Server Settings

Primary: 212.1.128.146
Secondary: 212.1.128.147

pop3: pop3.contactbox.co.uk
smtp: smtp.contactbox.co.uk
news: news.contactbox.co.uk

Miamilnit will then attempt to dial up Contact Box.

When you are connected to Contact Box and signed up, you will be sent a script, this is for PC users. However you can use a text viewer such as "Multiview" (which can be found on your Workbench disks) to read this. You can then write down any relevant information to up date MIAMI and connect to Contact Box.
