Welcome to the high speed race into the future... Be forewarned, every turn could save your life....or take it. Whatever happens, after you take the wheel nothing will ever seem the same again. There's just no going back. One of the first games developed with Intel's groundbreaking new MMX technology, POD redefines racing and revolutionizes Internet-direct multi-player gaming for an experience that is out of this world.
POD will thrust players into a futuristic experience that cannot compare to anything ever before seen, heard or imagined. POD will have players ripping through intense 3-D environments in customizable cars while linking up to eight simultaneous players over the Internet or Intranet. Perhaps it's all too real, too fast, too extreme to seem like a game. Perhaps technology has gone too far. But it's too late now, you've got to get in the race or die.
PLEASE NOTE! If you do not have DirectX on your system, you need to install it to play POD. DirectX 3.0 Full Install (Drivers & libraries - about 6 MB) If you already have DirectX on your computer use this DirectX 3.0 Library Upgrade Only - about 2 MB Remember to reboot your computer before you play!
The game does not run through this version of the interface (it does, however, run from the compiled InfoCourier versions) because of the way internet Explorer opens files. To run the games, open the PC Plus SuperCD Disc A (this one) and open the Pod folder. In there you will find two folders - Normal and 3DFX. The Normal folder is for Pentium users without 3D cards and the 3DFX folder is for those with. Inside each are two executables, one for users with MMX and one for those without. Choose Winpod.exe for normal non-MMX Pentiums, Podmmx.exe for pentiums with MMX, Wpod3dfx.exe for Pentiums and 3DFX cards and Podx3dfx.exe for pentiums with MMX and 3DFX cards. Remember that you still have to have DirectX 3 installed.
