Ranking Tutorial - Step 1: What's Happening?
You should be watching a good deal of activity going on here. Let's take a quick look at what it all means.
What are we seeing here?
In the top left of the screen is a list of four choices. We went through these choices a few moments ago at the beginning of this Tutorial. Select what you are interested in seeing and the information to the right will change to reflect that.
Just below the Show Me section you will see the Keyword that you are currently viewing results for.
Below that is the list of Keywords saved in your Profile for Ranking. Select one by clicking on it to see the Ranking results for it.
Depending on your Preferences, you will see more than one keyword actively Ranking. Now, let's take a quick look at the results we are gathering.
Here we can see that we are currently viewing the Ranking Position for three Websites. As we saw above, the keyword is 'Power Macintosh' and Microsoft and Sun are not doing too well while Apple is showing some fairly impressive positions. The numbers indicate how many results you would see when performing this keyword search until you found the URL in question. For the purposes of this example, a Search for the phrase 'Power Macintosh' on Google www.apple.com would be the third result.
You should note the red minus sign and the green plus signs. These indicate movement in your position since the last time you checked your Ranking. Also note that a result of 0 indicates that the URL was not found in this search depth. If you see an N/A in the results, that indicates that the engine does not support the selected search type (this applies to URL and Link counts).
Well, when your first Rank Check is done, we can see how to set your Profile to run Submissions and Rankings automatically.
