Profile Setup Tutorial - Step 4: Search Engines Tab
Now click on the Search Engines tab.
You will see a lot of things here, but we want to look at the left hand side right now. This is where you will make your selections. The right hand side is a display of statistics relating to the selected engine.
By default, all engines are selected. This is probably good for most people. AddWeb's Rules checking will prevent you from submitting to engines that you shouldn't and allow you to submit to those that you should.
For those of you that want to select only specific engines to submit to, look at the 'Tree View' labeled Available Search Engines. A plus sign means you can see more of the list if you click on it, and placing or removing a check mark will select or de-select the search engine or group of search engines associated with it.
Play with this for a little while if you are not familiar with this method of selection. You will see that if you do not select all of the engines in a particular group, the check mark for that group will turn to a gray color. To include all engines again, make sure the top level groups are all selected with a clean black check mark in a white box or by clicking the Select All button below the window.. Remember that selecting a group will select everything under it and you can select all engines this way with just a couple of clicks of your mouse.
You can save a list of engines here also. For now it is enough to select the engines to submit this profile to and move on. You can find out more about the Search Engine Lists in the detailed help.
Let's go on to the Ranking Setup.
