Profile Setup Tutorial - Step 3: Website Owner Tab

Now, click on the Website Owner Tab.

This is information about the owner of the website. Some of this information is required by some search engines. Search engines will maintain this information to contact you for their own promotions, but maintain Privacy Policies that generally keep your personal contact information "In House".

A. Fill out the Website Owner info.

You will want to enter your contact information in the appropriate fields here and double check it for accuracy. When filling out the phone numbers, "Country" is the 'area' code for the country which you are in. For the United States, the country code is 001.



B. E-mail fields

There are two fields that stand out in importance in this section. They are Submission E-mail and Personal E-mail.

The Submission E-mail is the address AddWeb sends to the Search Engines that request an E-mail address. The E-mail address you enter here WILL get a lot of 'Spam'. This address MUST be valid for most of the engines to accept your submission.

This presents an interesting problem for most people. We suggest acquiring a Free E-mail account from one of the many Free-mail providers available. Most of the large portal sites provide this.

An important note on these accounts is to NOT allow it to "auto-respond". An auto-responding E-mail address will not be accepted by some of the engines and automatically disqualify your submission. AddWeb submits to any engine that asks that the e-mail address does not auto-respond. If you are not sure if your account auto-responds, send mail to it and watch for a response from it that you did not initiate.

You will want to check this E-mail address right after your submission is complete. Over the first few minutes after submission, some confirmation letters will be sent. You will want to reply to these in order to verify your submissions. After that, you will watch the mail flood in.

The Personal E-mail account is where AddWeb will send E-mail Reports to for this Profile. Higher editions of AddWeb can automate the sending of these reports and this field will be very useful. This address is NEVER sent to the Search Engines for any reason.

C. Save an Owner

If you are using the Platinum edition of AddWeb or higher, you can save Owner information for use later in other Profiles. After you have entered all of the information for a new owner, you can click on the "Save as New Owner" button and that information will be saved into the Owner List. If you want to remove an owner, you can press the 'Delete' button and select which owner you want to delete from the dialog box.

D. Website Notes:

This information is for your use only. It is there for any personal notes or remarks you want to make. The information you put in this box is saved with the profile and is never sent to anyone.
