Profile Setup Tutorial - Step 1: Website Info Tab

When you first go to the Profile Setup section, you will see the Website Info tab.



A. Home Page and Populate
The first thing you want to do in the Profile Setup is type in your Home Page. You should type in something like this: http://www.cyberspacehq.com/addweb/ Now you can click on the populate button to gather information directly from your Home Page. The Populate button fills some of your Profile Setup fields with data from a web page or from a file on your Hard Drive.



The Website Title, description and Keywords on your home page will be filled in exactly as you have set them up. If you do not already have these tags, AddWeb will fill in whatever information is available to it. What you see is what the search engines will see when they 'Spider' your Website. If it doesn't look like a very appealing group of keywords or a very descriptive description, you may be tempted to change them now. Don't do it. Come back after going through the Page Advisor and Page Builder Tutorials and Populate it again. For now, let's get on with the Profile Setup.



B. Fill in the information that was not "Populated"
The first field that was not filled in by Populate is the Reciprocal URL field. This is the URL location of your "Links to other Websites" page, if you have one. Some search engines want you to publish a link to them in exchange for them posting a link to you. There are very few of these sites out there and if you do not have a "links" page, you can leave this field blank or have AddWeb create one by clicking on the Create button. You will have to upload this page to your Web Server later. If you do not know how to, please ask your Webmaster or Web Host.

Nationality is next. This is the Nationality of focus for your website. AddWeb sets it to United States of America by default. Adjust this if you focus on a specific nationality other than the USA or Global.

Now you will want to enter a Unique User Name and Password. These are required for logins to some sites (Like Snap./NBCi) that require a login to send your submissions to them.

Note on user Names and Passwords: Try to be VERY unique here and use mixed letters and numbers. Use a letter first and then any combination of characters.

Down in the bottom right-hand corner, you will see Competing URL.



AddWeb allows you to run comparative analyses and you should enter the full URL (Web Address) of your main competitor here. If you don't feel you have an actual competitor, enter the URL of someone you want to compare your listings to.
