Though purportedly an autobiography, this is generally thought to have been written by screenwriter Ben Hecht, who published a series of articles about Marilyn in The Empire News (British publication) in 1954. The material in this book, though copyrighted by Milton Green, is reportedly very similar to the text of those articles (I personally have not seen them). This is a must-have if only because it is the only Marilyn autobiography, genuine or not, ever published.

Further Reading

Other books that, though listed under different categories (or not available to me at this time), contain a considerable amount of biographical information:

My Sister Marilyn
by Berniece Baker Miracle
This book by Marilyn's half-sister contains a wealth of biographical information about Marilyn's childhood.

The Life and Curious Death of Marilyn Monroe
by Robert Slatzer
As the title suggests, Slatzer's well-known book offers a good deal of information on Marilyn's life in addition to the investigation into her death.

All of the books in the Equal Mix section of this web site contain a fair amount of biographical information.
