![]() | The Strange Death of Marilyn Monroe by Frank A. Capell
Publication: Herald of Freedom. 1964. USA. ISBN: ? Details: Softback. 78 pages. Contains: Approximately 20 photos (b&w), some documents and articles. An odd, red-baiting inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Marilyn Monroe's death. Notable for being one of the first sources to detail the rumors of Marilyn's involvement with the Kennedys (albeit in a roundabout fashion). Very difficult to find. |

![]() | Who Killed Marilyn Monroe? by Charles Hamblett
Publication: Frewin Publisher Ltd. 1966. UK. ISBN: ? Details: Hardback. 175 pages. Contains: 32 photos (b&w) / 4 are of Marilyn. Note: This is a black & white scan of a black & white cover. This is not a true Marilyn book: it is more a view into the nature of Hollywood around the time of her death. The author records meetings with various film personalities of the time. Only the second of the book's 3 chapters (which covers the making of The Misfits) is about Marilyn. This chapter includes the views of the crew members on that movie as to the degree of Hollywood's responsibility for Marilyn Monroe's death. C.B. |

![]() | The Mysterious Death of Marilyn Monroe by James A. Hudson
Publication: Volitant Books. 1968. USA. ISBN: ? Details: Softback. 112 pages. Contains: 16 pages of photos (b&w). Hudson was at one time news editor at United Press International, and used his experience as a journalist to investigate the circumstances surrounding Monroe's death. Though obviously not well-researched in some areas (he swallows unquestioningly the tales of young Norma Jeane having been shunted-around between dozens of foster homes), it is nonetheless interesting for some of the unique stories about Monroe's activities on the night of her death. Very hard to find. |

![]() | Marilyn: The Last Months by Eunice Murray & Rose Shade
Publication: Pyramid Books. 1975. USA. ISBN: 0-515-03787-7. Details: Softback. 157 pages. Contains: 8 pages of photos (b&w). Marilyn: The Last Months offers no revelations regarding Marilyn Monroe's death: Ms. Murray sticks to her story of many years regarding the events of August 4th and 5th, 1962. What this book does offer is a glimpse into Marilyn's activities and state of mind in the 8 months leading-up to her death. Murray, who was hired-on as a general helper to Marilyn at the urging of Ralph Greenson, spent those 8 months doing housekeeping, pinch-hitting as seamstress and chauffeur, and acting as a companion to the star. While thus employed, she had a chance to see Marilyn struggling to make it through the filming of Something's Got to Give, shopping for furniture in Mexico, preparing to sing to JFK's birthday bash, and going through her day-to-day struggle to solve her emotional problems. Definitely worth having, but this book is a bit difficult to find. |
