![]() Naomi Lets Stalker off the HookBeing in the limelight can be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it's great to be famous, liked and important. On the other hand, it's not fun to give up your privacy, or worse, be stalked by some obsessed maniac. It's a very common problem in the realm of modeling. SUPERMODEL.COM spoke at length with Carol Alt about her experiences with not one, but three stalkers.Naomi Campbell is modeling's latest victim. She's been stalked by Michael Gold for some time and has an order of protection against him. As too many headlines have indicated recently, orders of protection often don't protect stalking victims very well. But they're rendered useless when the person being protected won't cooperate with authorities trying to enforce it. Gold was recently charged with aggravated harassment and contempt of court for a violating the order of protection. However, the case was dropped by Naomi's lawyer because Naomi was in France on a modeling job and refused to appear to testify when the trial was ready to go forward. She told her attorney she couldn't make the appearance because it interfered with her modeling commitment. As the victim, Naomi's testimony was crucial, so when she was a "no show," the judge had to let Gold is off the hook -- this time. |
