"Sports Illustrated" Selects Cover Model for Swimsuit Issue
The grinch almost stole the cover, but wiser heads prevailed. Supermodel Eva Herzigova is the lucky winner. She will be on the cover of "Sports Illustrated" 's 1997 swimsuit issue. She will also appear on no fewer than eleven pages inside the i
ssue. That will have no small impact on her already healthy career. But it almost didn't happen. SI's new swimsuit editor, Elaine Farley, wanted to do something different this year. She brilliantly tapped tennis player Steffi Graff to be the
cover girl. That would have dampened sales of SI's largest single-issue circulation winner. Great way to start your career at SI, Elaine. The potential hue and cry was obviously brought to her attention, as was, we suspect, the need for her to print fre
sh copies of her resume if she really went with Steffi. She wisely reconsidered. We wonder, if Ms. Farley goes to work for "Playboy," does Janet Reno get the first cover?
