"Element" Theme Wins, But Not All

The "Daily News" (December 11, 1996) reports that swimsuit model Ashley Richardson was hoping to fill the position of "Sport's Illustrated"'s Swimsuit Issue senior editor. Richardson took the time to construct a proposal with six different them es for the annual issue. The elements theme -- earth, water, fire and air really impressed the SI suits. While Richardson thought she was going to get the job, SI chose another editor, Elaine Farley. The odd thing about this thet Swimsuit Isssue is going to usep Richardson's theme!

Metropolitan Museum's Gala

The "New York Post" (December 11, 1996) reports that Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute gala entertained numerous guests, the hottest of whom was Princess Di. She caught the attention of everyone with the gown she was wearing, designed by John Galliano. Observers say it made her look "curvier" than usual! Other guests were designers Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Christian LaCroix and Michael Kors. Supermodels Christy Turlington, Amber Valletta and Elaine Irwin also were present.
