"Mode" for the Fuller Figured Debuts

The pull quote from one of the articles reads: "You're not fat -- you're in the wrong country" and thus was born Mode magazine (pictured). Its premiere issue has hit the stands, and it's an excellent first try. The publication is written for those who don't quite have Kate Moss bodies. In fact, it's specifically for women who have figures once tapped in girdle ads as "full figured." It's punctuated with the usual Cindy Crawford/Christy Turlington makeup ads and other pages displaying various produit du femme, but the editorial is decidedly for those wearing dress sizes starting at 12. Profiled in the issue are: Bette Midler, Rosie O'Donnell, Kathy Bates, Aretha Franklin, Whoopi Goldberg and Cecelia Barto li. And modeling her new clothing collection in an ad all her own is "Designing Women's" Delta Burke.

Bijou May Be Headed for Rehab

The "Daily News" is reporting that modeling bad girl, Bijou Phillips (pictured at right), is headed for a rehab center in Arizona. Bijou, known all over New York for her practical jokes and impish behavior, has landed her first movie role: a model who uses heroin. But the 16-year-old has no interest in allowing her role to become her life. According to the report, Bijou has admitted to smoking cocaine and heroin four times -- hardly enough to warrant rehab -- but the experience was enough to make h er stop and think about the future. The daughter of John Phillips of Mamas & Papas fame, reported to have had his run-ins with drugs, and Genevieve Waite, Bijou is the half sister of Mackenzie Phillips, who also struggled with drugs. Mackenzie has reportedly been sober for years. Perhaps she will lend some support to Bijou as she attempts to deal with the problem now. If Bijou really is headed to rehab, good for her for recognizing the need to do it. If not, one more practical joke on all of us. Stay tuned.

They've since decided to share a hous e for the rest of their lives. The pair snuck off to Jamaica where they were married in a small church.
