At the heart of the DISHES project is the desire to raise awareness and funds for direct care, education, emotional support, and permanency planning for children infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS. Conceived by founder and formal model Bonnie Pfei fer as an idea for a model's cookbook simply called "Dishes," DISHES has come to stand for Determined Involved Supermodels Helping to End Suffering.
The DISHES Project is the modeling industry's first nonprofit foundation. Models, photographers, agents, bookers, stylists, hair & make-up artists and many others in the industry have joined together to support the Project's efforts. Like many other comm unities, the modeling industry has felt the loss of many creative and talented individuals to the AIDS epidemic. Models who have participated in various efforts on behalf of DISHES include: Carol Alt, Tyra Banks, Christie Brinkley, Jill Goodacre Connick, Cindy Crawford, Janice Dickensen, Kelly Emberg, Elaine Erwin, Linda Evangelista, Jennifer Flavin, Estelle Hallyday, Patti Hansen, Beverly Johnson, Elle MacPherson, Beverly Peele, Tatjana Patitz, Jane Powers, Hunter Reno, Claudia Schiffer, Danna Peele, Nik i Taylor, Christy Turlington, Amber Valletta, Frederique Van Der Wal, Veronica Webb and many more.
The project provides an organized and valuable vehicle for models and celebrities to lend their name , image and time in creative and productive ways to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. The DISHES Project offers a focused means to that end by its multifaceted marketing approach. The committed talent pool can be involved in one of several parties for the kids and various promotional efforts.
