I recently learned that Chris Steyn, the African professional hunter I frequently hunt with, has organized a new outfitter group, CS Safaris, in South Africa. Chris's operation will specialize in year-around bird hunting. A full five hunting days custom bird hunt in South Africa will cost $2,500 per hunter. The price includes all transportation to and from the Johannesburg airport, all lodging, meals, transport in country, guides, dogs, licenses, and permits. There is a day at the beginning and a day at the end of the hunt reserved for transportation to and from the airport for a total of seven days.

During the game-bird off-season Chris will be taking hunters on dove and pigeon shoots rather than for grouse, and South African dove shooting is some of the most exciting in the world with several different species available, and there is no limit.

Chris hasn't abandoned his big-game hunting, but he has decided to limit himself to parties of two hunters and two nonhunters who want to go on custom safaris for any of the African game.
