I Agree

I remember as a kid fishing with my father and grandfather and taking only what we need for a meal. A lot of the fishing folks I know today take the limit regardless of how much they have in a ziplock in the freezer already.
Some take over the limit and the feeling is the limits were imposed for folks other than themselves and besides, who's it going to hurt to take and extra 5 or 10 crappie since they are so small anyway.
One of the ways we judge whether a new spot is good or not is to count the number of empty bait boxes, yards of used line, and discarded packaging the area holds. It seems that respect for the environment and the animals has taken a dive while numbers, records, poundage, points, trophies, pictures and stats have taken front row.
Not all sports-men and women are like this. I'm not, nor is my husband, family or friends I fish with, but it sure seems more prevelant now than in the past.
