Dan Armitage is a full-time freelance outdoor writer from Columbus, Ohio, whose hunting and fishing features appear in most popular regional and national outdoor magazines.
He is also a featured columnist for Pointing Dog Journal, Retriever Journal, Ohio Sportsman, Ohio Game & Fish, Houseboat, and Pontoon & Deck Boat magazines.
A graduate of Ohio State University, Dan lived and wrote in southern California and south Florida for a decade. While in Florida he served as an award-winning outdoor editor for The Miami Herald Florida Keys edition and hosted the "Florida Keys Outdoors" radio show in Key West. He returned to his hometown in the late 1980s to edit two regional outdoor magazines, Ohio Fisherman and Great Lakes Fisherman and turned to full-time freelance work in 1990.
Dan is a popular speaker at sports shows around the Great Lakes states, where he performs hunting, fishing, and photography seminars. He resides in the Columbus suburb of Worthington with his wife Maria, who is a photographer, research librarian, and avid hunter and angler, and their English setter Marcy.
