Herb Allen of Dunedin, Florida, is one of America's most prolific and widely published outdoor writers. Currently a contributing editor to Florida Sportsman and Gulf Coast Fisherman magazines, he also writes a weekly syndicated column on the outdoors that goes to 25 outlets with a combined circulation exceeding one million.
During the past 30 or so years, Allen has penned literally thousands of newspaper and magazine columns, newspaper stories, and magazine features, as well as three books. For nine consecutive years he was voted Florida's best outdoors columnist by the editorial staff of Sports Afield magazine.
Allen's contributions to conservation and fishing have been recognized by numerous distinguished service awards. In 1969 he was elected to the International Fishing Hall of Fame.
