This year, the R. L. Winston Rod Company welcomed Joan Wulff, internationally known fly casting expert, to join them as a technical advisor.
One of her first duties was to help design a new fly rod for women. Wulff has long believed that women anglers need lighter rods and smaller grips than men. The result of her efforts is the new Joan Wulff Favorite Fly Rod, an 8-1/2 foot, three-piece five-weight IM6 with a specialized grip for women. The Joan Wulff Favorite takes a DT 5, WF 5, or Triangle Taper 5/6 line and retails for $525.
