New 545GS Model Added
To Penn's Graphite GS Reel Series

Building upon its unparalleled reputation for quality, durability, and world-record performance, Penn is introducing the new 545GS, a lightweight graphite star drag reel packed with features on the cutting edge of tackle technology.

Joining the 555GS and the new 535GS in the Penn Graphite GS series of high-speed performance reels, the American-made 545GS is perfect for casting and cranking jigs, fishing with live bait, and battling powerful saltwater predators like king mackerel, wahoo, school tuna, bluefish, yellowtail, albacore, and more.

Featuring a narrower frame than Penn's popular 555GS model (introduced last year) the new 545GS offers the same advanced graphite construction and an even faster 6-1 gear ratio than its predecessor. Like the other reels within Penn's Graphite GS series, the one-piece graphite composite frame of the 545GS provides exceptionally high strength and precision alignment without even a hint of distortion or flex. Corrosion-resistant metal inserts in both the front and rear spacer bars provide additional reinforcement. Stainless steel rings on the side plates of the 545GS not only make this reel stronger and more durable, but also add to its overall appearance.

Beneath its graphite exterior is a tough, precision-machined high-speed gearing system featuring stainless steel pinion gears and high-strength bronze alloy main gears for smooth operation and increased reliability.

A new "gear forward" design allows for oversized gears in all of Penn's GS series reels for greater strength, improved cranking power, and faster retrieves. Smooth internal operation is ensured by four aircraft-quality stainless steel ball bearings within the 545GS--all sealed against water, dirt, dust, and other contaminants.

Penn's 545GS also features a lightweight black anodized aluminum spool for easier and longer casts. This unique spool construction enables anglers to cast the lightest of lures and baits while retaining enough strength and line capacity (420 yards/20-pound test) to handle the toughest saltwater game fish. A centrifugal casting control in the left side plate assembly of the 545GS can be easily engaged to help reduce backlashes.

In addition to a superior casting system, the 545GS is equipped with Penn's exclusive HT100 (TM) multi-disc star drag system for solid and dependable fish-stopping power. A new ergonomically-designed star drag wheel with ultra-fine threads allows for precision drag adjustment according to the angling situation. The 545GS includes a special collar under the star drag wheel to help seal out water, salt, and contaminants.

Another unique feature of the 545GS is its double-spring-free spool system, which provides positive, crisp shifting and even greater reliability. The free spool level is ergonomically-engineered and crafted from a high-strength graphite composite for durability and ease of use.
