It was my first summer in Idaho two years ago when I stumbled on this little
lake nesteled at the base of some hills near the Sawtooths. It did not appear
on the map that I was using, but I decided to hit it anyway. After an hour I finally got a "hit" and
proceded to break off whatever it was. An hour and a half later the same thing happened again. Frustrated, I tied a 3X tippet to my
#16 Hare's ear. This time I landed the fish that hit and it turned out to be a 4lb brookie. The amazing thing is that the fish was only 19 inches long.
It is hanging on the wall above my computer.
