SIMULATION OF THE CLEOPATRA CASE WITH THE NONHYDROSTATIC MODEL LM

The CLEOPATRA case has been simulated using the nonhydrostatic model LM.

The frontal developement in the Danube valley has been captured with a time difference of two hours with dx=2.8 km.

The multiple structure of the front is captured well in the velocity and temperature fields. The structure of the precipitation field, as measured by the climatology raingauge network of DWD is captured as well, even though there are errors in the background precipitation and generally there is too little rain.
