Research in historical climatology and the study of two series from Barcelona and Madrid of Early Instrumental Period (EIP, 1780-1860) allow to obtain information to analyze the behaviour of strong rainfalls with catastrophic effects in daily resolution. Instrumental data available also permit the basic synoptic reconstruction for their comparative analysis with similar events recorded during the present instrumental period.
