Kinetic energy budget are examined during the period 16 feb to 10 Mar 1987 for region encompassing active cyclogensis. The analysis of kinetic energy components show that above 400 kPa the divergent and rotational energy seems to export energy and produce inflow above this level. The Q-vector analysis is used to interret the evolution of the surface pattern in terms of an induced vortex stretching for the various combination of upper and lower levels. The study also consider the influence of large scale condensation in terms of moist wind parameterization. The effect of moisture in the energy budget suggested that the contribution of the divergent energy to the total one in the dry one.
