Nowdays weather radar provides instantaneous measurements of spatial rainfall fields. This represents a qualitative change regarding the type of information up to now available, which should not be neglected in new modeling efforts. This paper presents a rainfall-runoff model able to use distributed rainfall estimates as input in a flood forecasting context. Basin representation uses a square grid and the water travel paths are derived from topography. The translation and loss functions have five parameters to be calibrated. Model performance is evaluated through its calibration and validation using on a Mediterranean basin case study. Finally the results are compared with those obtained by a classic lumped model.
