A satellite-derived cloud and precipitation analysis have been applied for a pattern recognition of mesoscale convective system associated whit heavy precipitation. Nocturne flash flood events compel to consider only infrared satellite data (IFFA technique, convective-stratiform technique, vertical temperature threshold,...).
Their characteristics and digital parameters resulting from infrared Meteosat images (cloud temperature attributes, life cycle, tracking and estimated precipitation areas) have been extracted for some events corresponding to the period july 1994-june 1995 (images facilitated by ESA) and they are compared. A proposal of standard for their follow-up is presented through automatic operations that they will be to easy implementation in complex systems of forecast.
