Banking:
Opening hours, Monday to Friday: 08.30 -14.00 hrs,
Saturdays: 08.30 -13.00 hrs
Car Rental:
Special rates for car hire are available for the
period of the symposium
Closing Symposium Dinner:
On Thursday 17 April there will be
an optional Symposium Dinner for delegates. The cost per person: 6.500
SPA (1 USD = 125 SPA). See additional services booking form.
Documentation:
A desk for collecting documentation and identification card
will be enabled in the Auditorium of Palma (Paseo Maritimo, 18)
on Sunday, 13th of April, from 16 to 20 hours and on Monday,
14th, from 8 to 9 hours, as well as during the Symposium
celebration.
A booklet with the abstracts of all contributions received
will be delivered to the participants included with the
documentation folder.
Extension Stays:
The Housing Bureau will be pleased to offer
extension stays both before and after the symposium dates.
Honor Committee:
An Honor Committee has been formed to remark the relevance of
the Symposium. The presidency of this Committee has been accepted
by the Minister of Environment of the Government of Spain, Mrs
Isabel Tocino, and the Secretary General of WMO, Prof Obassi. The
other members are the President of the Regional Government of the
Balearics, the Delegate of the Spanish Government in the
Balearics, the President of the Mallorca Island Council, the Mayor
of the city of Palma de Mallorca, the Principal of the University
of the Balearic Islands and the Director General of the Spanish Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (INM).
Hotel Accommodation
Hotel reservation procedure:
Hotel reservations should be
made by filling in the hotel reservation
form only. A separate form should be completed for each
participant. The deadline date to guarantee accommodation is
01 February 1997.
Any amendments or cancellations must be made in writing to
the Housing Bureau.
Form of Payment: A minimum deposit of 5.000 pesetas per
person must be sent with the reservation form. Full payment to be received
prior to 15 March 1997.
Cancellation Charges:
a) For cancellations received prior to 01 March 1997 there will
be no charge made except bank costs.
b) Cancellations received after 01 March will be charged the equivalent
of 1 nights accommodation.
c) In the event of non arrival and without notification of cancellation,
the room will be kept for 1 night and no refund will be made.

Optional Excursions:
We are pleased to offer optional
excursions as detailed. CIC reserve
the right to cancel any excursion which does not have a minimum
of 25 participants. In this case full refunds will be made. See
additional services booking form.
Pre and Post Tours:
Pre and post tours are available on
request.
Registration Fee:
The participation in the Symposium is free
of charge, but there is a limitation of places. To be registered is
mandatory to attend the Symposium. Not preregistered or registered
èpeople are requested to fulfill the Registration
Form beforσ 15 January 1997.
Shopping:
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday: 10.00 - 13.30
and 17.00 - 20.00 hrs. Department stores open throughout the day.
Symposium Site:
The Symposium will be held in the Auditorium
of Palma de Mallorca, Paseo Maritimo 18, Palma de Mallorca. The
Auditorium was built in 1968 as a concert hall and has been the site
for many international congresses, musicals, orchestral concerts and
cultural events. It is located in the heart of the Paseo Maritimo
overlooking the Bay of Palma and is within walking
distance from all the offered hotels.
Travel
Palma is easily accessible by plane with direct
flights from many European cities and regular flights from Spanish
airports. There is also a ferry service from both Barcelona and
Valencia to Palma. C.I.C. will be pleased to provide any further
information you may require concerning your travel to Palma
including special fares.
Travel from airport:
Travel from Airport to hotel will not be covered by the
organization. An information desk would be established in the
Airport terminal on Sunday 13th, from 12 to 20 hours, if possible.
Anyway, a taxi from Airport to the hotels zone costs approximately
2,000 SPA (around 15 USD). Public bus service is also available,
although to get to the hotels zone two bus lines have to be combined:
Airport line to Plaza Espana (ticket: 350 SPA) and lines 1, 3 or
5 from there to hotels (ticket: 160 SPA).
