[ST] New Standard 25MHz Bipolar Op Amp

[LINE]

The latest additions to the SGS-THOMSON Microelectronics range of high performance bipolar op amps are the TSH22 dual and TSH24 quad devices. Featuring a high 25MHz gain bandwidth product, a high slew rate of 15V/us and operation from single or dual supply rails from 3V to 30V (or ▒1.5V to ▒15V) with only 2.15mA consumption, the new amplifiers are even suitable for comparator applications, thanks to the special input structure that eliminates the phase inversion effect that occurs in most operational amplifiers when a strong differential signal is applied to the inputs. Moreover, when operating from a single 5V supply, the output signal is compatible with standard logic families.

The new op amps also feature balanced inputs, low input current and low equivalent input noise voltage (14nV/ Hz), while the input offset voltage is both low and stable, with a maximum value of 2.5mV and a low temperature drift of typically 2uV/░C. The TSH22 and TSH24 are therefore suitable for precision applications. Other key specifications include a low Total Harmonic Distortion of typically 0.003% and 120dB isolation between amplifier outputs.

Ideal for telecom and audio equipment, battery powered instrumentation and a wide range of similar applications, the TSH22 and TSH24 are specified for operation over the industrial (-40░C to +125░C) temperature range and include a SPICE macromodel, full latch-up immunity and high ESD tolerance. The TSH22 is offered in plastic DIP8 or surface mounting SO8 packages, while the TSH24 is available in DIP14 or SO14 packages..

SGS-THOMSON's Standard Linear group has increased its share of the worldwide amplifier and comparator market from 3.1% in 1991 to 6.9% in 1995 (World Semiconductor Trade Statistics figures). Results for the same period from another independent source, Dataquest, confirm these figures and also show a rise in world ranking from No. 13 (1991) to No.4 (1995).
