Overview

BayCheck allows you to view all of an eBay user's publicly accessible records with a single click.  BayCheck retrieves:

BayCheck Pro also provides a fifth tab that by starts out at the eBay home page.  You may use this browser to navigate to any web page.

You may save the users you frequently check in your favorites, just as you would in your web browser.  With BayCheck Mail, you can easily send email to any user through eBay's user contact system.  BayCheck Pro shrinks to a tiny toolbar that can float on top of your web browser window while you navigate eBay.  When you find a user you wish to search, you can highlight that user's name, drag and drop it into the BayCheck Toolbar, and check the user easily.

BayCheck Pro allows you to view and sort this information in a variety of ways, and gives you more control than the eBay web-based interface.  You can find out more about a user with a single click that you could by searching around eBay for five minutes, clicking all over the place.

The program features an east-to use toolbar with all the controls you'll need within easy reach:

Having this information at your fingertips allows you to get a quick snapshot of a user's eBay activity.  You can see how successful a user has been as a seller or bidder, what types of things that user trades, and get a true picture of what sort of feedback the user has given and received.  BayCheck Pro can give you information about your competitors, help you to spot questionable traders, and give you greater insight into a user's feedback by allowing you to see how that user responds to others.

Viewing User Information

To gather information about an eBay user, simply enter the user's ID or email address in the "User ID" box in the upper left hand corner of the BayCheck window and press the "Check" button to the right.

You may also drag and drop a user ID from any web browser window, including the windows within BayCheck Pro.  Another way to enter a User ID is to choose it from your favorites.

When you enter a user ID and check it, BayCheck Pro automatically displays data for this user on four tabs: (1) seller history, (2) bidder history, (3) feedback received, and (4) feedback left for others.  Each of these tabs is an independent web browser.  You may click on any link in these pages and follow it like you would in a regular web browser, and navigate using the button bar at the top of each page.

The Home button takes you to the default destination for the tab you are on.  For instance, if you are on the Seller History page, pressing the Home button takes you back to the seller history page for the user that is being checked, if you have strayed from this page.

The fifth tab navigates to the eBay home page.  You may navigate anywhere from there.

        Seller History Tab

The seller history tab displays auctions in which the user is or has been the seller.

The "History" drop-down menu on the seller tab allows you to specify how much of a user's sales history you would like to view.  You may review current auctions only, or review auctions that have closed within a period of up to 30 days.  When you choose a new period of time to review, the page will automatically refresh to reflect your request.

The "Per page" drop-down list allows you to choose how many of the user's auctions you would like to view on a single web page.  By default, this is set to 25 auctions per page.  If you change this setting, the Seller History page will automatically update to reflect your request.  If you choose to view a large number of auctions per page, the data make take a long time to load.

The "Sort" drop-down list allows you to choose how you would like the items on the seller page to be sorted.  When you choose a new sort method, the page will automatically refresh to reflect your request.  BayCheck allows you to sort a seller's auctions in ways that you cannot on eBay.  Although all of these sort options work on eBay.com, they may not all work on some of the international sites.

        Bidder History Tab

The Bidder History tab displays auctions in which the user is or has been a bidder.

This Bidder History tab displays the auctions a user is or has been bidder.  By default, this page displays current auctions only, and includes all the auctions the user is bidding on, whether or not they are the high bidder.  These settings can be changed by checking either or both of the boxes at the top of the bidder history tab:

By checking the Completed Items box, your search will include all items the user has bid on in the last 30 days.  By checking the Only if high bidder box, your search will be limited to auctions on which the user was or is the high bidder.

Like on the Seller History tab, the auctions displayed in the Bidder History tab may be sorted in a variety of ways, using the "Sort by" drop-down menu.

You may also alter the number of auctions displayed in the Bidder History tab by choosing a different option from "Per-page" drop-down menu, just as in the Seller History tab.

        Feedback Received

The Feedback Received tab shows all the feedback a user has received from other eBay users.

By default, this page displays 25 feedback comments per page.  You may find it useful to view more comments on the page.  You may change this setting with the drop-down menu at the top of the Feedback Received tab.  Be aware that it may take some time to download large amounts of feedback on a single page, depending on the speed of your internet connection.

You may also limit your search to negative and neutral comments only, by clicking the box that links to Amherst Robots.  This is helpful when you are evaluating the integrity of a user who has a large number of comments in his or her record.

     Feedback Left For Others

The Feedback Left For Others tab shows all the feedback a user has given to other eBay users.

This page is set to display 25 feedback comments per page.  Just as you can do on the Feedback Received page, you may revise this by using the "Feedback per Page" drop-down menu at the top of the page.  You may also, like on the Feedback Received page, limit your search to negative and neutral comments only by clicking the box that links to the Amherst Robots site.

        eBay Home

The eBay Home tab will navigate to the eBay home page when you check a user's data for the first time.  After this, you may navigate to any page on the web.  This page will not return to the eBay home again page until you press the "Home" button on the eBay home page toolbar or the site button in the main BayCheck Pro toolbar at the top of the application:

To return to the eBay home page, press when you are on the eBay Home tab, or from anywhere else in BayCheck Pro..

BayCheck Mail

BayCheck Mail allows you to send email to any other eBay user through the eBay user contact system.  You do not need to know a user's email address to send mail this way.  To access BayCheck Mail, simply press the "Email" button on the toolbar at the top of BayCheck Pro:

You simply enter the person's user ID and your email will be forwarded to them through eBay.

If you open BayCheck Mail when you are checking a user, that user's name will be entered in the "To:" box.  But you are not limited to sending mail only to this user.  You may use BayCheck Mail to send mail to any registered eBay user.  To send mail, you must enter your own eBay user ID and password in the appropriate boxes (this is required by eBay, just as if you were requesting to send a message to another user on the eBay site).  Enter your subject and message (which may not exceed 2000 characters or contain HTML), and press "Send" to send the message.

If you choose to save your password, you will not have to enter it in each time you open BayCheck mail.  This will be filled in automatically for you.

If you check the box to keep the BayCheck Mail window on top, it will remain on top of all other windows on your screen.  This is useful if you are typing a message while referring to an auction page, and want to drag and drop text from the browser window into your message.

If you choose BCC to sender, eBay will automatically send a copy of your message to the email address associated with your user ID.

To view your favorites list, press the "Favorites" button:

A window will open that will allow you to view, choose, delete, or add users.  When you double-click on a user from this list, or highlight a name and press "Check", you will be brought back to the main BayCheck Pro screen and the application will begin retrieving data for that user.

BayCheck Pro Toolbar

The BayCheck Pro Toolbar is a small, floating toolbar that contains all of the BayCheck Pro tools in a compact package.  To transfer BayCheck Pro into a Toolbar, simply push the "Toolbar" button at the top of BayCheck.

When you shrink BayCheck Pro into the Toolbar, you can use it while you are surfing eBay in your web browser.  When you see a user you would like you check, simply drag the user's name into the BayCheck Toolbar, push the Check button, and BayCheck Pro will open with that user's data.

The buttons on the BayCheck Pro Toolbar perform the same tasks they would in Bay Check Pro.  The checkmark button performs a comprehensive check on the user entered into the "User" box.  The mail button opens BayCheck Mail.  The heart button adds the user to your favorites.  The binoculars button allows you to view your favorites list.  And the expand button transforms BayCheck Pro back into the full-sized version.  If you wish, you can uncheck the "On top" box that keeps the BayCheck Pro Toolbar on top of other Windows.

Setting Options

You may choose to view user information in a way that is different than the default settings built into BayCheck Pro.  If you have a high-band internet connection, for instance, you may wish to view the maximum number of auctions or feedback per page.  You may prefer to sort auctions by title, or only display auctions in which a user is the high bidder.  You may prefer to do your user checks from the eBay UK site.

To save these settings, simply choose Options:Save Current Settings from the BayCheck Pro menu.  BayCheck Pro will start up with these settings until you save different settings or restore the default settings.

To restore the default settings with which BayCheck Pro was installed, choose Restore Default Settings from the Options menu.
