Creating spheres

You can create a sphere. The latitude lines of a sphere are always parallel to the xy plane of the current UCS; the central axis is always parallel to the z-axis. You position a sphere by specifying its center point. You determine the size of a sphere by specifying either its radius or its diameter.


NOTE The sphere is created as a three-dimensional ACIS solid.


To create a sphere

  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Specify the center of the sphere.
  3. Specify the radius or diameter.

To create a sphere as a three-dimensional surface

To create a sphere as a surface instead of as a solid, the procedure is similar.

  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Specify the center of the sphere.
  3. Specify the radius or diameter.
  4. Specify the number of longitudinal sections that are perpendicular to the xy plane.
  5. Specify the number of latitudinal sections that are parallel to the xy plane.
