Welcome to the SimbiontC4D 2.5 Online User Guide. This guide tells you how to use the SimbiontC4D plugin for Cinema 4D (versions 7.x and 8.x). Simbiont C4D actually includes two plugins. One is a 3D Volume Shader, and the other is a Channel Shader. These plugins work by loading DarkTree 2.5 procedural texture description files and recreating the shaders or textures in Cinema 4D.
If you want to create your own original procedural textures for Cinema 4D, and if you use it much you probably will, you must have a copy of DarkTree 2.5 to do so. Or if your studio has any DarkTree 2.x users, they can build custom shaders for you. Otherwise, you can download some ready-made texture files from Darkling Simulations' DarkTree Repository. The following linked pages will explain everything you need to know about SimbiontC4D.
SimbiontC4D can load any .dsts, .dstc, .dstb, or .dstp file created with DarkTree 2 or 2.5.
NOTE: DarkTree 1.x dst files will not work with SimbiontC4D 2. However, DarkTree 2 can upgrade these .dst files so that the Simbiont 2 plugins can read them.
