SimbiontAM 2.5 User Guide

SimbiontAM example render showing a small sample of the available materials.

Welcome to the SimbiontAM online User's Guide. SimbiontAM is a free plugin that lets you use materials created with DarkTree, versions 2.0 or 2.5. This guide tells you how to use the SimbiontAM plugin for Animation Master version 9.5.
  • Properties Control Panel
  • Layering
  • Maps & Materials
  • Animating Tweaks
  • NOTE: SimbiontAM 2.5 is not compatible with its earlier versions.  If you have scenes that are dependent on SimbiontAM 1.x there is no need to uninstall your earlier version,  since the two versions will not conflict with each other.

Content - Shaders, maps and materials for SimbiontAM are available from the DarkTree Repository (see a description of these textures below).  To download any of these quality DarkTrees, go to www.darksim.com.  There you will find a link to the DarkTree Repository on both the front page and Support page.

    • Shaders - Shaders change the way a surface is rendered by changing the way the surface reacts to light.  SimbiontAM includes four shaders.

NOTE: Not all shader features in DarkTree 2.5 are supported in SimbiontAM.

    • Maps - Map textures are versatile, procedural building blocks that can be combined within Animation Master to enhance existing materials or to create new ones.

    • Materials - Procedural materials are fully-textured and shaded and can produce very realistic results.

    • More - SimbiontAM can load any .dsts, .dstc, .dstp, or .dstb file produced by DarkTree2.0 or 2.5 .  You will find more shaders and procedural materials on the Internet, or if your studio has a DarkTree 2.0 or 2.5 user, custom shaders can be created for you.
